Principal's Message

Dear Miller School Families,
We have a fun-filled month planned for our Miller Eagles! As we continue our journey Around the World in 180 Days, our theme this month is “Eagles Uplift Each Other: Respect, Stand Tall, Fly High, and Say No to Bullying!” Throughout the month, we will focus on the importance of kindness, respect, inclusion, and standing up for ourselves and others. We want every Eagle to feel safe, valued, and supported as we work together to create a positive school community where everyone can SOAR!

We are kicking off the month this Monday by asking all students and staff to wear blue to Stand Up to Bullying! Wearing blue is a great way to show our commitment to kindness, friendship, and making Miller School a place where bullying has no place.

We have so many exciting activities and events planned for our students this month! Our Eagles will participate in the National Anthem Project, celebrate students being inducted into Safety Patrol, and enjoy School Picture Day and our much-anticipated Book Fair. We will also recognize Red Ribbon Week, promoting the importance of making healthy, safe, and positive choices.

As always, we appreciate your continued partnership and support. When families and school staff work together, we help our Eagles build strong relationships, develop compassion for others, and grow into confident, respectful leaders. Thank you for helping us reinforce these important values at home and in our community.

Let’s make it a wonderful month of kindness, friendship, and school pride. Remember, Miller Eagles stand tall, fly high, and uplift each other!  Together We S.O.A.R.!

Resepectfully,
The Miller School Administration

Around the World in 180 Days! The Race is On!

Miller School is kicking off a new school-wide positive incentive plan that connects perfectly with our theme, “Around the World in 180 Days!”

Each homeroom teacher will receive a Miller Passport for their class. Homerooms can earn passport stamps from Administration for demonstrating our SOAR expectations—Safety, Ownership, Accountability, and Respect—and for achieving perfect attendance.

As homerooms fill their passports with stamps, they will reach exciting destinations along the way! Once a passport is completely filled, the class will earn a fun event or special prize together.

It’s all about teamwork, positive choices, and celebrating our students for doing their part to make Miller a great place to be.
The passports are ready. The destinations are waiting.

Read Read Read

Miller School is currently reading! Teachers, counselors, paraprofessionals, and school nurses alike are all displaying the book title that they are currently reading. Staff will update the titles they are reading throughout the school year. These signs are displayed outside of classrooms and offices for all of the students to see how our Miller staff reads! We hope to foster a love of reading and literacy within our Miller students. Keep up the reading!

SOARING BEYOND THE CLASSROOM

SOARing Beyond The Classroom
We are excited to launch a new initiative at Miller that celebrates the amazing accomplishments our students achieve outside of school! Our students are involved in so many meaningful activities in our community, and we want to recognize those moments that reflect dedication, perseverance, leadership, and growth.
This recognition is intended for significant accomplishments, achievements, or awards—such as earning a notable honor or being recognized by an organization, team, or program. Please fill out the SOARING FORM form below by the end of the month for the student to be recognized the following month.
Selected accomplishments will be highlighted on our TVs located throughout the building to help us celebrate our students’ hard work and successes. Thank you for partnering with us to lift up these special moments and help our Eagles continue to soar!

Let's Debate!

Ms. Elwell's ELA class prepared for their end-of-unit assessment by practicing how to participate in a respectful group discussion in a low-stakes debate over which company is better: Coca Cola or Pepsico! First, students worked in small groups to prepare questions for their classmates and brainstorm ways to defend their opinions. Then, they split into two groups: speakers and graders. The "graders" sat on the outside and watched for appropriate use of Module 1 Conversation Cues, Discussion Norms, Active Listening, and respectful language, while the "speakers" sat on the inside and debated the topic. Groups switched after 15 minutes, then the class worked together to reflect on what went well during their discussion and what could be improved for next time.
