Principal's Message

Dear Miller School Families,
We have a fun-filled month planned for our Miller Eagles! As we continue our journey Around the World in 180 Days, our theme this month is “Eagles Uplift Each Other: Respect, Stand Tall, Fly High, and Say No to Bullying!” Throughout the month, we will focus on the importance of kindness, respect, inclusion, and standing up for ourselves and others. We want every Eagle to feel safe, valued, and supported as we work together to create a positive school community where everyone can SOAR!

We are kicking off the month this Monday by asking all students and staff to wear blue to Stand Up to Bullying! Wearing blue is a great way to show our commitment to kindness, friendship, and making Miller School a place where bullying has no place.

We have so many exciting activities and events planned for our students this month! Our Eagles will participate in the National Anthem Project, celebrate students being inducted into Safety Patrol, and enjoy School Picture Day and our much-anticipated Book Fair. We will also recognize Red Ribbon Week, promoting the importance of making healthy, safe, and positive choices.

As always, we appreciate your continued partnership and support. When families and school staff work together, we help our Eagles build strong relationships, develop compassion for others, and grow into confident, respectful leaders. Thank you for helping us reinforce these important values at home and in our community.

Let’s make it a wonderful month of kindness, friendship, and school pride. Remember, Miller Eagles stand tall, fly high, and uplift each other!  Together We S.O.A.R.!

Resepectfully,
The Miller School Administration

Around the World in 180 Days! The Race is On!

Miller School is kicking off a new school-wide positive incentive plan that connects perfectly with our theme, “Around the World in 180 Days!”

Each homeroom teacher will receive a Miller Passport for their class. Homerooms can earn passport stamps from Administration for demonstrating our SOAR expectations—Safety, Ownership, Accountability, and Respect—and for achieving perfect attendance.

As homerooms fill their passports with stamps, they will reach exciting destinations along the way! Once a passport is completely filled, the class will earn a fun event or special prize together.

It’s all about teamwork, positive choices, and celebrating our students for doing their part to make Miller a great place to be.
The passports are ready. The destinations are waiting.

National Custodian Appreciation Day

Celebrating National Custodian Appreciation Day! In honor of National Custodian Appreciation Day, our students and staff took time to show our custodians just how much we appreciate everything they do for our school each and every day. Students and staff signed and decorated colorful “Helping Hands” as a special way to say thank you, along with creating cards and other messages of appreciation. Our custodians do so much behind the scenes to keep our school clean, safe, welcoming, and running smoothly. Their hard work and dedication make a difference in our school community every day. Thank you to our amazing custodians for all that you do! Our school is better because of your helping hands!

Using food to learn!

Mrs.Sutor’s science class used graham crackers and frosting to model the movement of Earth’s tectonic plates. We explored how these shifts create landforms and natural events. It was a delicious way to learn!

Poetry

Miller School 4th Graders have begun an exciting journey into the world of poetry! Through the novel Love That Dog by Sharon Creech, students are reading about Jack as he discovers how poetry can help us express feelings, experiences, and ideas. Students in Mrs. Catania's class put their poetry skills into action by exploring the poem At the Pumpkin Patch by Jenny Whitehead. Students closely read the poem, discussed the author's use of structural elements, descriptive language, sensory details, and imagery. Then, they brought the poem to life by creating their own pumpkin patch! Each pumpkin represents a student's thinking and creativity, showing how poetry can inspire us to imagine, create, and express ourselves in fun and meaningful ways.

STRIKE

Fifth grade students on Team 1 learned all about going on strike this week! Students are currently reading the novel, "Esperanza Rising" by Pam Munoz Ryan and are comparing events in the story to the Declaration Of Human Rights. Students are learning about living and working conditions and why workers may go on strike when these rights are violated. Activities included demanding rights for a chosen profession as well as pretending to be a school supply that misused and decided to strike. Some students drew ideas from the book "Crayons on Strike" by JenniferJones. Students later presented their posters or their writing on why they were on strike!

SOARING BEYOND THE CLASSROOM

SOARing Beyond The Classroom
We are excited to launch a new initiative at Miller that celebrates the amazing accomplishments our students achieve outside of school! Our students are involved in so many meaningful activities in our community, and we want to recognize those moments that reflect dedication, perseverance, leadership, and growth.
This recognition is intended for significant accomplishments, achievements, or awards—such as earning a notable honor or being recognized by an organization, team, or program. Please fill out the SOARING FORM form below by the end of the month for the student to be recognized the following month.
Selected accomplishments will be highlighted on our TVs located throughout the building to help us celebrate our students’ hard work and successes. Thank you for partnering with us to lift up these special moments and help our Eagles continue to soar!
