Principal's Message

Dear Miller Families,

Dear Families,
March is here, and with it comes a month full of energy, excitement, and meaningful learning experiences for our students! Our theme for the month is “March Madness” — with a positive twist. Throughout March, we will be focusing on M.A.R.C.H.:
M – Manners
A – Attitude
R – Respect
C – Confidence
H – Honesty
These five character traits will guide our school-wide activities and classroom conversations. We are encouraging students to demonstrate good manners in their words and actions, maintain a positive attitude even when faced with challenges, show respect for themselves and others, build confidence in their abilities, and practice honesty in all they do. When our students embody M.A.R.C.H., everyone wins!
March is also a time of important recognition and celebration. We are proudly celebrating Women’s History Month, honoring the contributions, achievements, and impact of women throughout history. Teachers will incorporate meaningful lessons and discussions to help students appreciate the powerful role women have played — and continue to play — in shaping our world.

We are especially excited to welcome Illustrator, Jason Patterson to our school on Thursday, March 5th! Students will have the opportunity to hear about the writing process, ask questions, and be inspired to continue developing their own love of reading and storytelling.

We will also celebrate Read Across America Week, when we will welcome guest readers into every classroom and enjoy fun dress-up days to show our love of reading. This is always a highlight of the year and a wonderful way to reinforce the importance of literacy and lifelong learning.

In addition, we have many engaging events planned this month:
  • March 5– Illustrator Jason Patterson visit
  • March 17 – Festive activities to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day
  • March 18 – Our Annual Geography Fair, where students will proudly showcase their learning about places around the world
  • March 16–20– Book Fair, giving families the opportunity to grow their home libraries:
  • March 18- 6:00-8:00p Book Fair Family Night
  • March 27-Career Fair
  • March 30 – Report Cards posted

Our vibrant Multicultural Day will also take place this month, celebrating the diverse cultures that make up our school community and highlighting the traditions, languages, and experiences that enrich us all.

March promises to be busy, meaningful, and full of school spirit. Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Together, we will make this a winning month for all of our students!

Warm regards,
Jim Battersby
Principal, Miller School

Choir

On February 28th, five of our Miller Choir Students proudly represented our school at the All-South Jersey Choral Festival. They sang in the All-South Jersey Honors Choir, along with students from several schools in the South Jersey area. Savannah, Madelyn, Sofia, Olivia and Kathryn attended extra rehearsals, worked very hard are were rewarded with a fun day of music, new friendships and a phenomenal afternoon concert!  Miller's very own Mr. Guerrasio was one of the Festival Managers (as well as Fernwood's Choir director) so we got to hang out with him and his students, building camaraderie with our Fernwood 6th graders. A great time was had by all!

SOARING BEYOND THE CLASSROOM

SOARing Beyond The Classroom
We are excited to launch a new initiative at Miller that celebrates the amazing accomplishments our students achieve outside of school! Our students are involved in so many meaningful activities in our community, and we want to recognize those moments that reflect dedication, perseverance, leadership, and growth.
This recognition is intended for significant accomplishments, achievements, or awards—such as earning a notable honor or being recognized by an organization, team, or program. Please fill out the SOARING FORM form below by the end of the month for the student to be recognized the following month.
Selected accomplishments will be highlighted on our TVs located throughout the building to help us celebrate our students’ hard work and successes. Thank you for partnering with us to lift up these special moments and help our Eagles continue to soar!
